RS Medical is set to distribute Harvest Technologies' Terumo SmartPReP 2 platelet concentrate system, as part of a recently completed agreement.
Harvest, a Terumo Americas Holding company, is involved in developing point-of-care cellular platforms that isolate and concentrate autologous growth factors such as platelets and stem cells.
RS Medical president and CEO John Konsin said with the launch, the company is already experiencing tremendous interest for the SmartPReP 2 System from its physician customers.
"We are excited to be able to add this technology to our expanding product offerings, as we focus on bringing more solutions to our physician customers," Konsin added.
American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and American Academy of Wound Management spokesperson Scott Sondes said the SmartPReP 2 System has allowed the academy to effectively deliver the highest possible concentration of platelet rich plasma in a simple and sterile system that is extremely easy to use.
"I've treated patients with knee issues and, within 2 weeks, patients exhibited improvement and demonstrated a high level of function," Sondes added.
